Saved by my sons today
Today has been one of those days. I'm heading off to the US to speak at events. I'm doing 11 talks in 14 days in 8 cities - intense, but wouldn't have it any other way. I also get a long weekend in one of my favourite places - MIAMI.
But, it has been one of those days. My ADHD and Autism combo really messed things up. Last night, I prepped and packed everything and planned my today meticulously. I had two videos to film, some content training documents to draft and get a train to Heathrow.
So, I convinced my son to drop me into the office at 7, I could work there for the day and this afternoon get the train from Plymouth to London. My meticulous schedule meant starting on the drafts at 7:00am.
Five minutes after leaving home at 6:30am, I realised I'd forgotten my weight loss injections, so we turned around, grabbed them and set off again. We arrived at the office at 7:08am - not too big of a hitch. I went to get my keys out of pocket and.... I forgot the office keys. So, we turned around and drove back home to grab the keys and come back.
We arrived back at the office at 8am and my day was significantly off schedule. Leon, was quite miffed as my disastrous start to the day had made him late for work - even though I'm the boss, he hates not being on time.
I was super productive though and by 10am, I'd caught up. I was ahead. At 3:30pm, I ask my step-son Josh to drop me the the train station - no hitch at all. Arrived on time ready to go. Then the announcement - my train is delayed by 55mins. No sweat I'm prepared for this. I jump on another train - my plan is to get off at Reading and get to Heathrow.
My other son, Aidan agrees to meet me at Reading, as he's coming to the US with me. As we are 20mins out of Reading, a voice in my head says, "your driving license is missing". I'm driving between cities in the US, so I need that, paranoia sets in, so I check - It's not there.
I triple check and call my wife and Leon back home, they turn the house upside down. I call our COO, Martin, ransacks the office to find it. Martin drives to my house and turns my office upside down - it is nowhere to be found.
So, now I go into emergency planning mode, who can fly out over the weekend and be chauffeur. Whilst retracing my steps of when I last had it. Oddly enough, I remember having it dealing with a speeding ticket, when I got back from Arizona a few weeks back.
So I check my calendar, meanwhile Martin and my wife are working out who can fly to the US over the weekend. I realise after getting home from the US, I went to London to deliver a workshop and had to show my ID at the hotel. Aidan, my youngest son, decides to call the hotel.
"Dad, they've got it" - The hotel is in London had my Driving License. I arrived at Heathrow and booked a Uber courier. The uber driver picked up the license and drove it up to my at Heathrow.
I fly in a few hours and I have my license.
It's been one of those days and Leon, Josh and Aidan saved my bacon.
